Namma Bengaluru! - Part 1

We are all emotionally attached to a city we grow up in. Be it a small village or a big metro city, our home town always remains close to our heart. And then there comes a place, which embraces one and all; the expats, migrants, people from other cities & towns and of-course those belong here. 

From long walk in Cubbon Park to hundreds of cafes, from trails of trees to amazing weather, you can't help falling in love with Namma Bengaluru (Our Bangalore). It pushes one to aim for the progress that this city offers and bags plenty of options to chill-out and unwind. 

If we are talking about the Garden City, it is impossible to skip the huge lung space spread across around 100 acres of area like the Cubbon Park with various species of birds, plant and animals. And of-course the Lalbagh, were you can find half of Bangalore being present during the famous flower show. Why not, after- all it houses India's largest collection of tropical plants. And then comes our Bannerghatta National Park which is one of the few places in the world where the wildness is preserved so close to a big city. No matter where you live in Namma Bengaluru, you will always will be close to nature.

Namma Bengaluru is one of those few cities to keep theater, music and performing arts alive. Yes we are talking about places like Ranga Shankara, Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Ravindra Kala Kshetra and there are may more, where you can catch live performances. Our city is one of the few places which promotes theater in all languages. Being the hub of Carnatic music, lot of world renowned musicians reside in this city, giving performances regularly. And yes, lot of artists come from differnt parts of the country and outside come here to perform.  Also there are numerous dance schools teaching and performing various dance forms both traditional and western - including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Salsa, Hip-Hop, Belly Dance etc.

Bengaluru is no doubt the birthplace of Coffee Days. With at least one CCD every corner of the street, you will never have to look for hangout places here. But it is still the aroma of piping hot filter kaapi (Coffee) that drives us crazy. Lot happens over a cup of filter kaapi you know! Believe me, the world's best Dosa are available at our own MTR/CTR/Vidyarthi Bhavan and softest idlis at our own Veena Store/Brahmin's Cafe. Whether it is benne masala dosa or the Italian food, Namma Bengaluru has restaurants for every type of carving and budget. Chefs and foodies from all over the country consider this city a pit stop. From Vikas Khanna to Matt Preston, Bengaluru is a favorite spot for all. To know how good the food tastes here, you have to experience that yourself. 

We in Bengaluru work hard and party harder. Did you know this city has the highest number of Pubs in Asia? They used to close at 11pm sometime back, but now they're open till 1am! This place has a couple of microbreweries with excellent craft beer and if this does not interest you, there are so many pubs which will serve your choice of imported beers. Its also absolutely fine if you want to party at home. You don't need to queue in front of the wine shop that looks like a cage to get your booze. There are supermarkets that sell whatever you need and wine shops don't make you feel like you're buying prohibited drug. All these partying and culture might sound very high-fie, but our people are chilled about all of that.
