Love is just LOVE...

Image
One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving. – Paulo Coelho  (From the Book ‘The Alchemist’) Love is something you can't explain. It is something you feel. It cannot be described in a few words or even a few sentences. You can't define love. You just love someone but you don’t know why? It is something you feel in every inch of your body and something that fills up your heart. It isn’t something that always makes sense. I have only had single love in my life, so you would think I couldn’t possibly know what love is. Probably to your surprise, I do. Like I said, you can’t explain love. You can try to describe to someone, how it feels, but they wouldn't really know how you feel. To know what it is like, it has to happen. You cannot see it and it cannot be heard. When it happens, you just sort of know it. You are happy all of the time and feel as if nothing could go wrong.  There are many different forms of love, though. There is famil...

Festive Gifting and More...

Image
It’s that time of the year when people’s attention is focused on the festive ritual of gift-giving. Shoppers are rushing about looking for the right gift for the special people in their lives. Gift exchange is a major part of celebrating the festivals like Diwali, Christmas , New Year etc. But do you know the whole act of gift-giving can offer psychological benefits?  Giving a gift is a universal way to show interest, appreciation, and gratitude, as well as strengthen bonds with others. Better to give than to receive, gift-giving is also an act of unselfishness and concern for the well-being of others. When we give without expecting anything in return, we are improving our psychological health. There is an enormous sense of satisfaction when seeing the expression on the face of someone you have given a gift to. A way to express feelings, giving reinforces appreciation and acknowledgement of each other. The feelings expressed mainly depend on the relationship between w...

What did it Accomplish?

Image
I don't know much, but this video is the ultimate demonstration in selflessness. It didn't happen at a great event by a famous...public figure with millions of followers. It was in protest of the heart...the ultimate sacrifice.  Great example of the power an human being to change the world around him. The fact that he made no sound or movement is amazing.  But the real issue here is, what is the purpose of burning yourself to death?  What did it accomplish?

I Love You!

Image
I know that I don’t say it as often as I should, but I want you to know that I love you very much. I appreciate everything that you do for me. I love the way that you love me. It’s strong and quiet, but deep and meaningful. I Love You! When times are hard, I don’t get worried. I know that I have you with me, who’s intelligent, strong, and supportive that I can always depend on. I feel safe and secure whenever I’m with you. I Love you! Being loved by you means, that I will no longer have to go through bad, difficult, or scary things alone. I have you, who will be with me through them all. I Love you! Being with you has given me the best moments of my life. It has also given us the toughest challenges. I don’t want to ever go through them again, but I’m still thankful that we experienced them. Thank you for being with me all throughout this journey. I Love You! I know that I’m not the perfect partner. There are times when I’m just so busy with myself, when I’m just too tired to...

Indian Travel Trend

Image
Indians are travelling more and more, just not within India but outside too. The times are gone when the families used to take trip to home town or native villages during holidays. Now we can see families planning vacations first and then take leaves form their offices accordingly. There is enough proof to show there has been a drastic increase in travelling of Indian tourists in local as well as foreign destinations. From festivities to weddings, Indians do everything on a pretty large scale, and they are slowly claiming the holiday as well. These days they are booking for destination weddings, a journey to find oneself, an exploration of culture or simply an annual trip with the family, without bothering much.  It is not trendy any more to celebrate your birthday in the city that you live in. People like to celebrate special days like Birthdays and anniversaries in places they have never visited before. Young Indians are earning more disposable incomes, which is allowin...

Book Review of Man’s Search For Meaning

Image
Man’s Search for Meaning is well known classic of Holocaust Literature is a short book and a worthy read. Written by Viktor E. Frankl an Austrian psychotherapist, it is a compelling glimpse into the human Phyche. His observations about life in sever conditions during imprisonment at Auschwitz during World War II are enhanced by his training in psychology, going beyond horrors many of us know from popular movies or documentaries about the Holocaust. Frankl doesn’t offer much in the way of narrative; rather he offers in-depth analysis of the psychology of the prisoners and the guards, based on both his psychiatric knowledge and his first-person observations. The central theme of the book is about how anyone can choose to make meaning out of any situation, no matter how bad thing are. He uses his personal experiences and observations to support this premise. In the first half of the book, which centres on Frankl’s first person tale of starvation, violence, cruelty and epic l...

Being Little Selfish for Happiness

Image
Happiness is state of mind. It gives you desire to live. It motivates you to do something in life. But it is important to remember that happiness depends upon wisdom. Before doing anything, we should ask ourselves weather what we are planning to do will give us happiness. We should be happy before we spread happiness. The idea of happiness is often about sharing and thinking about others. However, we forget that while we are keeping everyone else above our own happiness, we are losing our own happiness. If we are not happy then how can we be our best self and make others happy? Selfishness is usually perceived as a negative quality, however, if used in the right way, selfishness actually leads to happiness. Often people are warned against being selfish. However, not many people understand that being a little selfish can actually lead you towards happiness. It brings out the best in you. Firstly, being selfish doesn’t mean you have to put others down for our benefit. It si...
