Indian Travel Trend

Indians are travelling more and more, just not within India but outside too. The times are gone when the families used to take trip to home town or native villages during holidays. Now we can see families planning vacations first and then take leaves form their offices accordingly. There is enough proof to show there has been a drastic increase in travelling of Indian tourists in local as well as foreign destinations.

From festivities to weddings, Indians do everything on a pretty large scale, and they are slowly claiming the holiday as well. These days they are booking for destination weddings, a journey to find oneself, an exploration of culture or simply an annual trip with the family, without bothering much.

It is not trendy any more to celebrate your birthday in the city that you live in. People like to celebrate special days like Birthdays and anniversaries in places they have never visited before. Young Indians are earning more disposable incomes, which is allowing them for planning holidays more frequently. There is also increase in the trend of gifting vacations for dear ones like for friends, parents or for partners (husband and wife gifting each other). Whether you buy your parents a cruise to celebrate their anniversary or taking your partner on a trip to celebrate their birthday - this trend is picking up more than ever before.

All Women trips are becoming increasingly popular these days. Several all-women travel companies are coming up with travel plans for women wanting to travel alone without their families. In this group, women; whether strangers or friends, get together to plan the perfect vacation. Women have started travelling around the world in these groups, without worrying about things like company or safety. Women friendly destinations are in trend and becoming quite popular. Women travellers in India are getting the opportunity to explore places by themselves, which they could not think of it earlier.

One always wanted to see the world, but their busy, 9-5 job kept them postponing their travel plans. Here comes the post retirement travel, where prices are lower for senior citizens, packages are friendly and safe and tours are age friendly. Whether one is going to visit their sons and daughters who are settled abroad or simply take a trip to enjoy having nothing to do, people now prefer in spending retirement time and money travelling within the country and around the world, instead of staying back in their homes.

Solo travelling has been a pretty big trend all over the world for quite some time, now it has hit the Indian market too. More and more people are beginning to realise that they don’t need a partner to travel, for seeing and enjoy the world. Indians are becoming bold, more aware and are getting enough support from travel market place in making their trip hassle free.

Travel writing and travel photography has never been bigger. There are numerous travel magazines and websites that feature travel diaries, photos and blogs. And, Indians are catching up pretty fast with it. People are making money of their travels by contributing to these fields, which gives them an extra boost to pack their bags, set for a journey.

There was a time when an adventure packed vacation meant going to Goa for some water sports or heading over to nearby mountains for trekking. Times have changed and with it has come the new adrenaline rush tours and packages. From getting diving lessons in Andaman to paragliding in Manali, from river rafting in Dandeli to bungee jumping in Rishikesh, there’s a lot to do on an action packed vacation. Now people are travelling less for the scenery and more for the experience.

This is relatively a new concept - Babymoon. There used to be a time when honeymoon was the only reasons couples could give for going out on the trip. But today's couple want to have one last trip before having to bring up the baby. It is the vacation taken up by the couple before (few weeks) the wife gives birth to the child. The vacations are perfect for pregnant women, and there are lot of companies providing packages for them. These usually include massages and spa therapies, suitable accommodation for mothers, and trip catering to everything from the baby bump to pregnancy cravings that mother will remember for a lifetime.

Destination weddings were once privilege of the rich and famous but now, everyone is doing it. They have become so popular that there are travel packages which include deals and offers especially for couples who want to plan their big day outside their locale. From beach weddings in Goa to palace retreats in Rajasthan and from party in hill station resorts to adventure trails (get married on hikes or while skydiving). This trend is picking up so much in India that several small palaces and heritage sites are slowly clambering up on the destination wedding lists.

The travel scenario is changing drastically in India and we just have to wait and watch to know what more and new things it will have, to offer us.
