ಅಂಗೈಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಗೋರಂಟಿ (ಹೆನ್ನಾ) ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾದರೂ, ಇದೀಗ ಫ್ಯಾಶನ್ ಕೂಡ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಮದುವೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಬೇಕೇ ಬೇಕು. ಈಗ ಹಬ್ಬ ಹರಿದಿನಗಳಿಗೂ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿದೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಹುಡಿಗಿಯರಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರವರೆಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂಗೈ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಂದ ಪದ್ಧತಿ.  ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಗಿಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸವಿದೆ. ಮುಲತಃ ಉತ್ತರ ಆಫ್ರಿಕಾ ಹಾಗು ಏಷ್ಯಾಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಇದನ್ನು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಣ್ಣಕಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕೈ ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಅಲಂಕಾರರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿದರೆ, ವಯ್ಯಸ್ಸಾದವರು ಬಿಳಿಯ ತಲೆಗೂದಲನ್ನು ಕಪ್ಪಾಗಿಸಲು ತಲೆಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಣ್ಣೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಣ್ಣ ಕೊಡಲು ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಗಿಡದ ಎಲೆಯನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಡಿಸುವುದುಂಟು.  ಇದೀಗ ಕೋನ್ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ. ಮದುವೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ, ಮಾಮೂಲಿ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಟ್ರೆಂಡ್ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಮದುವೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು. ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದಿರುವ ಗೋರಂಟಿ ಗಿಡ, ಅಲಂಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೇ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಪ...

Popeye the Sailor : This cartoon was the sole reason kids would finish the spinach on their plates. There wasn't too much super strength happening along the way, but that didn't stop us believing. Watching him defend Olive Oyl and keep big bad Bluto away was a favourite pastime. Road Runner :  In this cartoons, the Coyote repeatedly attempts to catch and subsequently eat the Road Runner, a fast running ground bird, but is never successful. Coyote uses absurdly complex contraptions and elaborate plans to pursue his prey, resulting in his devices comically backfiring. Indeed it was a funny show to watch. The Centurions : No matter how dangerous Doc Terror and Hacker's plans were, they were always defeated by the three mech-warriors. Just hearing their phrase is enough to send us back to our childhood. Power Extreme! Aladdin : Aladdin's team was one lovable bunch. No cell phones, no Laptop, not even a personal computer. Wait a minute; are you thinking, is this the Stone Age I am talking about? Absolutely not! This is how it used to be when we were kids, the 90’s kids. Now that I think about it seems unimaginable to pull off something like that. Television was the only source of entertainment we needed (other than playing outdoors). And this is what we waited for each and every day. The lazy evenings, after school, sitting in front of television for hours together and watching the cartoon shows we loved were the most memorable childhood moments. Oh God! ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಪರಿಸರ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಕೇಳಿಬರಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ. ವನಮಹೋತ್ಸವ, ಪರಿಸರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ನೂರಾರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ತೀವ್ರ ಸದ್ದಿನ ನಂತರ ಯಾವ ಸಂಭಂದವೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಮತ್ತೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ಪರಿಸರ ದಿನ ಎದುರಾದಾಗಲೇ ಪರಿಸರ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೆನೆಪಾಗುವುದು. ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೀ ಒಂದೆರಡು ದಿನ ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವ ವಿಷಯವೇ ಇದು? ಕೇವಲ ಪರಿಸರದಿನದಂದು ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ತೋರಿಸಿ ವರ್ಷವಿಡೀ ಮರೆತುಬಿಡುವುದೇ? ಪರಿಸರ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಒಂದೂ ಎರಡೂ ದಿನಗಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿಮುಗಿಸಲಾಗುವಂಥಹ ಕೆಲಸವಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಆಚರಿಸುವಂತಹ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ. ಮೊದಲು ಇದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿಯಬೇಕು ಹಾಗು ಸದಾ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕು. ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಪರಿಸರ ಎಷ್ಟು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿದೆಯಲ್ಲವೇ? ಸಮುದ್ರ ತೀರದಲ್ಲೋ ಅಥವಾ ಹಸಿರು ಮರಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಕುಳಿತಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಂತಿಯ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಹುಮ್ಮಸಿನ ಭಾವನೆಗಳು ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈನಡುವೆ ನಾವುಗಳು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯೊಡಗಿನ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತ ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮರೆತೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೇ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ಇನ್ನು ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸ...
